A general guideline for the thesis submission and defense process is as follows:
Candidates should submit their initial "90%" thesis draft at least two weeks before the defense for overall review by their committee.
Before the day of the defense, the candidate should provide their 100% thesis draft, which may require some further minor revisions based on the committee's comments during the defense hearing. These minor revisions are be due within a two-week period for the MS candidate.
A defense hearing can follow the general timeline below:
25-30 min - Candidate defense presentation
15-20 min - Question and answer session with committee
Candidate leaves during deliberation
10-30 min: Deliberation by the committee to pass/fail the verbal defense and discuss necessary thesis changes (if any)
Candidate returns and is notified of defense pass/fail and thesis revision requirements (if any)
